Nov. 15 Gathering: Revolutionary Gratitude

“Gratitude is not warm feelings about what we have. Instead, gratitude is the ability to embrace the gift of who we are. That we are. In the multibillion year history of the universe, the gift is that each one of us has been born, can love, grows in awareness, and has a story. Life is the gift. And when that mystery fills our hearts, it overwhelms us, and a deep river of emotions flow forth. I am. We all are. What we feel when we contemplate this remarkable thing–that feeling is gratitude.”

Diana Butler Bass, Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks

As we head into Thanksgiving and the upcoming season of Advent and Christmas, our thoughts often turn to the things in life for which we are thankful: relationships, health, home, and, yes, even the material things that make us feel safe and comfortable.

But what if gratitude can be more? What if we began to see it not just as a private emotion, but as a revolutionary force that could change the world for the better?

This week at New Wineskins, we’ll engage with the words and writings of Diana Butler Bass and her most recent book, Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks.

We’ll talk not just about the things for which we’re thankful, but about how gratitude can become a lens through which to shape our theology and our worldview.

Join us this Sunday, Nov. 22, in the New Wineskins Virtual Pub for a conversation about revolutionary gratitude.

  • Zoom connection opens at 6:00pm for Happy Half-Hour (meet & greet)
  • Conversation starts at 6:30pm

Please note: this will be our final gathering before Advent. No meeting on Nov. 22.
